Terms of Service
These Terms are a contract between you and Loop of School, Inc. ("Loop of School," "we," "us"), a Colorado corporation. They govern your use of the Loop of School planning tool, our website at theloopofschool.com, and our apps (together, the "Loop"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Refund and Cancellation Policy, and Referral Program Terms, which are part of this agreement.
Please read them. They are shorter than most.
1. Who can use the Loop
To hold a family account you must be at least eighteen and the age of majority where you live, and a parent, guardian, or other adult responsible for the children whose schooling you plan in the Loop.
Another adult in your household, such as a spouse or co-parent, may join your family account by your invitation. They have their own sign-in, see and change the same loops you do, and share your subscription. You can remove them at any time in Settings.
Children do not have accounts. They may look at and tap the family's shared screen under your supervision. You are responsible for everything that happens in your account, including taps by children and actions by people you invite.
2. Your account
Give us accurate information and keep it current. Keep your password private and do not share your login outside your household. Tell us right away at hello@theloopofschool.com if you think someone else has used your account.
3. What the Loop is
The Loop is a planning tool. It helps you organize curricula, reading lists, routines, and projects for your children and shows you what is next. It keeps a record of what was done.
The Loop is not legal, educational, or compliance advice. You are responsible for meeting your state's homeschool requirements, including any notice, testing, portfolio, or record-keeping rules. The Loop's records may help you, but we make no promise that they satisfy any particular requirement.
We improve the Loop constantly and may add, change, or remove features. Features labeled "beta" or "preview" are provided as they are and may change or disappear.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Plans. The Loop is sold by subscription, per family. Current prices and plans are shown at theloopofschool.com/pricing and at checkout, plus any applicable tax.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on your plan, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. We charge the payment method on file at the start of each period. You agree to this separately when you subscribe, and we send you a confirmation email with the details and how to cancel.
Free trial. Every new family account starts with a free trial of 14 days (30 days if you were referred by a friend), one per household. No payment information is needed to start it, and nothing is charged when it ends. When the trial ends, your loops stay where they are and you can subscribe whenever you like; your first charge happens when you subscribe, not before.
Reminders. We email you before each yearly renewal, and at least once every twelve months on any plan, whatever your renewal date.
Price changes. We may change prices. We will email you between 7 and 30 days before a new price takes effect for you, and it applies at your next renewal after that. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before then. If you cancel within 14 days after the first charge at a higher price, we refund the unused part of that charge, on any plan. Where state law gives you more, you have it.
Failed payments. If a charge fails, we will try again and email you. If it still fails after 14 days, we may suspend your account until it is paid. Your family record is kept as described in the Privacy Policy.
Taxes. Prices do not include sales or similar taxes. Where we are required to collect them, we add them at checkout.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in Settings → Subscription → Cancel. You will keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again. We may offer you one alternative, such as pausing for the summer, but the cancel button stays on the screen and you can ignore the offer.
6. Pausing for the summer
You may pause your subscription for up to 4 months in any twelve-month period. While paused, your family record is kept and the loop does not advance. On a monthly plan, you are not charged while paused and billing resumes on the date you chose. On a yearly plan, your renewal date moves out by the length of the pause and nothing is charged when the pause ends. We email you before billing resumes. You can cancel at any time during a pause.
7. Refunds
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy is part of these Terms. In short: yearly plans may be refunded in full within 30 days of a charge, once in any twelve months, and you can do it yourself in Settings, which ends your subscription immediately; monthly charges are not refunded; price-increase refunds work as described in section 4; we always refund charges made in error; and we follow any refund rights your state's law gives you.
8. Your family's content belongs to you
Everything you put into the Loop, including your loops, curricula lists, notes, the record of lessons done, and your yearbooks, belongs to your family.
You give us a limited license to store, process, back up, display, and transmit that content, including to people you invite, solely to run the Loop for you. The license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies in backups, which are overwritten in the ordinary course.
You can export your content from Settings whenever your account exists, including after your subscription ends, a refund, or a suspension, until your record is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may produce de-identified statistics from how the Loop is used, as described in the Privacy Policy. Those statistics never identify your family.
9. Sharing your family account
You can invite another adult in your household to your family account. The person you invite sees and can change everything in it, as you can. You control these invitations and can remove that person at any time in Settings.
Each family keeps its own account, and you may not enter other families' children into yours. You are responsible for whom you invite and for having permission to share any information about other people that you enter.
10. Rules
Do not:
- use the Loop for anything illegal;
- enter content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy;
- enter personal information about people who are not in your family or your shared loops without their permission;
- share your login outside your household, or resell access;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Loop or its security;
- use automated tools to access the Loop other than ordinary browsers and our apps;
- abuse the referral program (see the Referral Program Terms).
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
11. What belongs to us
The Loop itself, including its software, design, name, and curriculum catalog, belongs to Loop of School, Inc. Your family's content belongs to you (section 8). If you give us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely to improve the Loop without owing you anything, and you will not be identified unless you agree.
The Loop lists thousands of curricula by name so you can find yours. Those names and any associated marks belong to their publishers. Listing them does not mean the publisher endorses the Loop or that we endorse the curriculum.
12. Availability
We work hard to keep the Loop running and we keep backups. We do not promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may take it down briefly for maintenance. We will try to give notice of planned maintenance.
13. Disclaimers
The Loop is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some states do not allow some of these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Loop of School will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost opportunity, arising from your use of the Loop, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability to you for all claims will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred dollars.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any consumer rights your state does not allow to be waived.
15. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you put into the Loop or because you broke these Terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including attorneys' fees, to the extent the claim was caused by you.
16. Ending the agreement
You can end it at any time by cancelling and deleting your account.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or do not pay. If we end your subscription for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of what you paid, and you can export your content for as long as we keep your record afterward.
17. Disputes
Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email hello@theloopofschool.com and we will try to fix it. If we cannot, you or we may give the other written notice of a dispute, and we will both try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days before doing anything else.
Small claims. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court.
Courts. Otherwise, any dispute will be decided by the state courts in Larimer County, Colorado, or the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If your state's law gives you the right to sue in your home state, nothing here takes it away.
18. Governing law
Colorado law governs these Terms, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except that the consumer protection laws of the state where you live still protect you where they cannot be waived.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will let account holders know, and we may ask you to accept the new Terms when you next sign in. Continuing to use the Loop after a non-material change takes effect means you accept it. A new version of section 17 will not apply to a dispute that began before it took effect.
20. Notice to California users
Under California Civil Code § 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following: the Loop is provided by Loop of School, Inc., 2519 S Shields Street, Suite 1K #829, Fort Collins, CO 80526, (970) 272-1153, hello@theloopofschool.com. Complaints may be directed to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, (800) 952-5210.
21. The rest
These Terms, together with the policies they incorporate, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Loop. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not transfer your account or this agreement to anyone else. This agreement stays with Loop of School, Inc. through any change in its ownership, and we may assign it to a successor to our business. We may send notices to the email on your account. Our not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up.
